Mrs. Redman's Fifth Grade Class
We are looking forward to a stimulating and rewarding year as we complete the last year of elementary school as positive role models and leaders for Highland Grove.

Week 34
Dear Families,

We had a very successful Fun-A-Thon! Everyone gave 100%! I was very proud of them! Please send in your pledge envelopes! They were due Friday, May 20!

Spring has arrived and fifth grade students have spring fever! We have 3 more weeks of school and that includes state testing. We also are planning end of the year activities around the promotion. Students are expected to behave appropriately. Basketball is no longer allowed due to conflicts. Cell phones are being misused and will be taken if necessary. There is also a lot of boyfriend/girlfriend drama. Students need to settle or they may jeopardize their participation in end of the year activities. To directly address this we sent home a behavior point plan last Friday, May 20. It also gives the dates for 5th grade end-of-the-year activities and how many points are needed to participate in each activity. The plan begins Monday, May 23, and the letter must be signed and returned no later than Tuesday, May 24......or a point is taken.

Students were given the instructions for their last big project of the year! They will be working on a state power point or book over the next few weeks. They checked out state books on Friday. This is a classwork and homework project. They will be given about an hour each day to work in class, They need 3 to 4 slides or pages completed each day. Please review the instructions with your child. A copy will be attached under class files on this website. This is a major Language Arts and Social Studies grade. Final due date is Tuesday, May 24! We begin presentations that day!

The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is Thursday, May 26! Our lunch is 11:50 AM to 12:27 PM. I hope to see you there!

Students needs 33 AR points with 90% accuracy by Friday, May 27. Please check Renaissance Home Connect to monitor student progress.

Have a good week!

Sincerely,

Judy Redman
