Hope you enjoyed the break and had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have only 3 weeks until Winter Break and we will be busy!
Thanks to all who helped with our production of “The Turkeys Go On Strike!” It would not have been possible without the support and help of families. Your kids performed 4 times in one day! They were awesome!
I enjoyed meeting with you during parent conference week. Thank you for attending! Children know that school is a priority when families make the time to be there.
Students were assigned to read a chapter book over break. They will do a book report and project this week based on the book read. Think Maps will be completed each day in class. A paragraph needs to be written each day for homework. Students will also need to do a project. The instructions will be reviewed with them and sent home on Monday, November 30. The report and project are due on Friday, December 4. Late work will be penalized with a lower grade.
I will continue to accept late homework with full credit through Friday of the week it was assigned. No other late work will be accepted. Students are going to receive 4 “Late Work Passes” for this trimester. The pass must be signed by a parent and attached to the work to receive credit. The passes are not replaceable. If they are lost, they cannot be replaced. Students need to be responsible for their paperwork. This includes writing their names on papers. I had a stack of “no name” papers and not one student approached me to go through it when they had missing work. When an assignment is missing the student needs to actively search for it, pursue the options (late pass, reprinting the work, asking to look at the “no name” papers, etc.), and accept the consequence(s). Please let me know if you have questions and use Parent Portal and Renaissance Home Connect to monitor student progress. Students need 9 AR points by Friday, December 4!
Thursday, December 10, is our Book Fair at Barnes and Noble. More information will be sent home.
Friday, December 11, is our Winter Festival at the University of Redlands. We begin rehearsing on Monday, November 30, with the other 5th grade classes. This is an all school event and a wonderful evening to share with families. Your students get to perform again! More information to follow!
Have an extraordinary week! We will!
